HTTPS and Atomic8Ball

October 6th, 2014 by admin

Over the course of the last few years HTTPS via SSL has become a very big deal. Many major websites such as Facebook, Google and Amazon use this technology to protect your data from malicious users who may try to intercept communications between you and the website.

HTTPS

Why is this important?

On a macro scale we can say that this is important because we want the Internet to be a better, safer place for everyone, and although not perfect, SSL is one of the better methods we have for achieving that, and if we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem.

On a micro level the simple fact is that HTTPS sites rank better in search results. That's right, Google thinks that serving secure content is so important that recently announced that they would be using HTTPS as a ranking signal.

What is Atomic8Ball doing about it?

We are constantly evolving our server infrastructure and our latest iteration is such that any website is 100% capable of supporting HTTPS. If you are part of our Atomic Marketing program we are offering this service at no additional cost to you. If you are not on this program we can still enable HTTPS for a nominal monthly fee.
